On Thursday, July 16th, Florida TRIO hosted the Inaugural Virtual Awards Ceremony where we announced the winners of the Florida TRIO Scholarships. In addition to the announcements, we were entertained through music and spoken word. It is clear that we have some dynamic talent within the Florida TRIO! Congratulations to the following winners:
Pre-Collegiate Winners Marquelle Olgletree- Talent Search @ Florida A&M University Jazmin Laughlin- Upward Bound @Miami Dade College Homestead
Collegiate Winners Keisha Dorrine- Student Support Services @Palm Beach State College Anthony Collins- McNair Program @ University of Florida
Each winner will receive $500! Due to the challenges that our students and their families are facing due to COVID-19, we also provided $50 gift cards for applicants that weren't selected. A special thank you to the TRIO personnel that nominated them!
Two pre-collegiate and two adult learner (four-total) scholarships will be awarded.Each Florida TRIO Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500.

Only one nomination may be submitted per TRIO program from each institution or agency. Multiple applications from a single TRIO program will be not be considered. We will only accept applications submitted by upload. A Trio Program Staff member must be a member of FLTRIO, must recommend the applicant, and must submit the application on behalf of the applicant.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA- Each Florida TRIO scholarship applicant MUST:
1. Currently participate in one of the federally funded TRIO programs located in the State of Florida.
2. Meet one of these TRIO participant designations;
A. TRIO Pre-Collegiate (two awards)--includes Educational Talent Search,Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math/Science participants who are high school seniors currently active in the project.Required minimum cumulative GPA- 3.0. GPA along with SAT or ACT scores MUST be included in high school transcript.
B. TRIO Adult Learner(two awards)--includes college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who are currently active in a SSS, VUB, EOC or McNair project.Required minimum GPA- 2.5, which MUST be included in transcript.
3. Proof of enrollment in college must be provided before you can receive the scholarship .
MATERIALS THAT MUST BE SUBMITTED:
1. An official Florida TRIO Scholarship Application completed in its entirety.Included on the application is a section for a typed 350-word essay.
2.An unofficial transcript, which lists cumulative GPA, (and SAT or ACT scores for pre-collegiate applicants) and all courses taken through the fall term 2019.
A.Current TRIO Pre-Collegiate applicants must be sponsored/ recommended by a staff member of the TRIO project in which the applicant participates in the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
B.Current TRIO Adult Learner applicants must be sponsored/recommended by a TRIO staff member from the project in which the applicant participates.
NOTE:The TRIO staff recommender must be a paid financial member of Florida TRIO.
